how it works

a small flip-open locket sets up once on the back of your phone case. a wrist piece you wear like a watch holds the phone. twist on, twist off.

  1. stick

    the locket

    stick

center it on a smooth plastic case. give it 24 hours to set.

  2. wear

    the wrist piece

    wear

on like a watch, then tighten it snug so nothing wobbles.

  3. twist

    locket + wrist piece

    twist

flip open the locket, press your phone down and twist until it clicks. to switch angles, twist it off and click it back in sideways.

  4. go

    locket + wrist piece

    go

screen up, hands free. twist it off whenever you want it back in your hands.

don't worry. it's not going anywhere.

a permanent adhesive holds the locket to your case. a twist locks your phone onto your wrist, and a click holds it there until you twist it off.

on your wrist is just the start.

lock the wrist piece onto your phone and it's a grip, a stand and a mini bag.

  • on your wrist

    wear it.

hands full, phone still in reach. coffee, keys, the leash... all yours.

  • in your hand

    grip it.

slide your fingers through the band. the one-handed text, the long-arm selfie.

  • on the table

    prop it.

lean it back and it stands, upright or sideways. facetime while you get ready.

  • at your side

    carry it.

hook your fingers through the band, like a mini bag. made for the walk to dinner.

now, make it yours.

cast your color vote.

we're choosing our first colors and we want your help! answer the text and you'll be the first to know when we launch (and it may just be your color!).

hi! i'm amanda.

as a girl in her twenties living in a big city, i'm always on the go. you can probably find me with a coffee in my hand, somewhere to be, and a phone that keeps me connected to my family, my friends, my work and my creativity (yes, i am the girl who proudly takes photos of everything). i love these parts of my life, and i'd never want to give them up.

but i also love being right where i am. and i kept catching myself choosing between having my hands free for the life right in front of me, and juggling a phone that never conveniently fit into the picture.

so i started building freeband, a way to keep my phone right there when i need it, and out of my hands when i don't. the product is driven by a creative itch i couldn't ignore, and by the belief that your digital world should complement your physical one, not compete with it.

thank you for being here this early. it means more than you know and i can't wait for what the future holds!

commonly asked questions

  • anywhere your hands fill up: coffee runs, dog walks, errands, the commute, school pickup, the gym. it's made for everyday life, not running or high-impact sports.

  • yes! that's the whole point. it sits screen up, so you can read a text, check a map or skip a song without holding it. need it in hand again? twist it off in a second.

  • yes. a twist locks your phone onto the wrist piece, and a firm click holds it in place, so it won't twist loose on its own. wear the band snug and it stays steady. twist it off whenever you're ready for phone-in-hand again.

  • even with a smartwatch, your phone still has to go somewhere. freeband is for that part. it puts the phone you already have on your wrist, so your camera, your map and your full screen are right there and your hands are free. love your watch? keep it! they do different jobs.

  • fair thing to want! we tested magnets, but they couldn't keep up with a moving wrist. we'd never ship something with a real chance of your phone taking a dive, so we built a twist that locks and a click that holds instead.

  • freeband works with any phone in a smooth plastic case. the locket sticks to the back of your case, not your phone, so there's no special case to buy. it won't hold on silicone, textured or leather cases.

  • the locket is made to stay put for good. its adhesive is permanent, which is what gives your phone the most secure hold on your wrist, so take a minute to center it before you press it on. switching to a new case means starting with a new locket.

  • give the locket 24 hours after you stick it on. the adhesive needs that time to cure and reach its full strength.

  • we're finalizing pricing now. the waitlist hears it first, along with founding pricing that's just for early supporters.

  • soon! there's no date yet, but the waitlist hears first, before anyone else.
